The Permian Basin section of the ACS comprises 12 counties in West Texas: Andrews, Crane, Ector, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Scurry, Sterling, Tom Green, Ward, and Winkler, and 1 county in New Mexico: Lea County. The universities in the region are Angelo State University in San Angelo, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Midland College in Midland, Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
